Waverley Old Boys won the ESFA Cup with a dramatic golden goal finish at Hensley Athletic Field on Sunday.

Taking on an in-form Coogee United AA1 side, the match started off with a high tempo as both teams battled for control on the park. There were opportunities at both ends of the park but it was Coogee United who took the lead in the first half, with a dazzling header to take the lead over the Premier League side.

The second half saw Waverley regain control of the match, with their superior fitness proving the difference on the park. A stunning equaliser made for a tense closing minutes of the match, as both sides missed chances to find the winning goal within the 90 minutes.

That goal came to Waverley during the first half of extra time. After pressing high up the pitch, Waverley scored the all-important winning golden goal to win 2-1 and wrap up the season with silverware.
