Waverley Old Boys FC to take on the big boys in the Waratah Cup Round 4
With the FFA Cup in full swing, the excitement and realism for local teams to play against their idols is slowing peeking its head.
This evening at Lambert Park, Leichhardt, local team from Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs - Waverley Old Boys Football Club – will take on Fraser Park Football Club from the NSW Premier League.
The 2 teams will face up under lights in Sydney and the local club of amateur footballers is ready for the challenge.
The FFA’s goal was to make sure that local amateur teams will strive to face up against high profile oppositions, with the A-League Clubs to join the competition at the round of 32.
“Since winning the second round of the cup, the boys have had their eyes on this fixture. Here we are, 2 rounds later, about to play the club’s highest profile fixture in our short 13-year history.
“Like the FA Cup in the UK, anything is possible, so in conjunction with our regular season commitment as part of the Eastern Suburbs Football Association, the boys game load is there but it’s exciting. For amateurs, opportunities like this don’t come around too often”
