Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory Raise Awareness About Depression and Anxiety

Published: 13/11/2014 10:16:00 AM
3 million Australians currently live with anxiety or depression.

Men are far less likely to seek support for these health issues.

The football family extends beyond the walls of ESFA and we are pleased to recognise and promote the Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory match this Saturday 15th November, 2014, kick off at 7:30pm at Allianz Stadium as a means to help raise awareness and support.

beyondblue is partnering with Sydney FC to promote good mental health.

We urge all our football family Sydney FC supporters to have a night out witnessing some great football, while supporting a worthy cause that may be affecting someone close to you or within your football community.

beyondblue chairman, The Hon. Jeff Kennett AC said that both teams were committed to promoting a good mental health in the Australian community and called on all soccer fans to take action if they or someone they know is experiencing depression or anxiety.

Sydney FC Captain Alex Brosque has stated his pride in being an ambassador for beyondblue and Melbourne Victory Captain Mark Milligan has said his team was thrilled to be participating.

We hope and trust our ESFA community will rally around this great cause and fill the stands at Allianz Stadium.
