Dunbar Rovers Take Home The Louise Mazzaroli Cup

Published: 17/11/2014 11:46:00 AM

The sky cleared, the sun shone, the sea breeze blew and the spirit of the game was alive and well at The Louise Mazzaroli Cup tournament.

With over 9 teams involved and 80 players, it was testament to the strength of the Over 30s women within the ESFA Competition.

It was bound to be a loud day with many an entertaining moment which consistently displayed the camaraderie and cooperation of Over 30s Womens football. Laughter rang out along with cheers from all players and spectators in the support of each other.

Remember ladies, what happens on the field stays on the field!

After an afternoon of football, Dunbar Rovers held off a determined Queens Park in the final in the cool of the evening, winning in golden goal during extra time. Congratulation to the ladies from Dunbar Rovers and Queens Park for a highly competitive final.

As Louise herself would have said “football is family” and as such the football family raised over $1010.00 thanks to the generosity of the players themselves and a generous $500.00 from David and Caroline Lewis via Chaos Media.

We see this as a precursor in the support of an ESFA Over 30s Womens Competition for Season 2015. We have shown it can be as competitive as an AAW Competition.

We thank all those involved in any way in the organisation of this event.

Thank you to all who attended both players and spectators and thank you to Louise Mazzaroli for reminding us that we are a football family and we give generously, play with spirit and most importantly support each other and football.
