ESFA Referees Branch Has Newly Qualified Assessors

Published: 10/02/2015 4:25:00 PM

Sunday February 1st, 2015 saw five of ESFA Referees Branch members, sit the Level 3 Assessors Course held by Football NSW at the home of football, Valentines Sports Park, Glenwood. This course culminated in a practical component. We are pleased to announce the five referees successfully passed the theory and practical components of this course.

Robert Nieuwenhuis, Referee Education Coordinator from Football NSW made the following observations –

“Eastern Suburbs were the best represented Branch at this course and all participants from ESFARB passed the course. As a result of their efforts, these representatives could potentially perform over 300 assessments of referees this coming season. This would put ESFARB at the top of referee assessments in Football NSW. The flow on would be that referees in Eastern Suburbs would be better trained and coached and that would mean the quality of officiating in Eastern Suburbs would improve and everyone playing football in Eastern Suburbs will have a more enjoyable experience.”

The five referees have been a part of ESFARB since its inception and have a vast amount of knowledge and education to pass to our current and potential referees as well as their capability and availability to referee high grade competition games. We appreciate their commitment to task and the time given not only on the day but for the season to come.

Congratulations to ESFARB’S five new Level 3 Assessors, Level 2 referees Jack Bell and John Garcia as well as Level 3 referees Paul Kelly, Arthur Kringas and Franco Soliman.

The Referees Management Committee is pleased with this result and are currently working toward the season with two Level 4 courses being offered. This will improve the coverage of some components of the competition and with Assessors being more readily available, will allow referees to progress through the referee pathway with correct guidance and skill and is of paramount importance to the Referees Branch.

We are also pleased to announce and congratulate ESFARB's David P Lewis, Level 2 referee for successfully completing the Level 2 Assessor/Coach course. David has been invited to complete the Level 1 Certification. This is also of great benefit to ESFARB referees and subsequently the competition.

With former Referees Coordinator Ben Abraham currently seeking his Level 1 accreditation, we are safe in the knowledge that ESFARB have produced and will continue to produce quality referees.

If you would wish to become a referee and be part of the team, please contact our Referees Coordinator for further information on our upcoming courses.
