Anzac Day Weekend Competition Update

Published: 24/04/2015 4:00:00 PM

What a week of weather we have been having. This has had a direct result already on some of our competition games. St Johns, Reg Bartley and NCIE have already been closed for the weekend. Turruwul has been closed for Saturday only at this stage. Some of the games affected were able to be moved, however for the most part we may be playing catch up!

Please as always, keep an eye on all our wet weather information. We have advised what is necessary in our previous stories, so guess we all know the drill! If Council closes grounds they will do so early. Should they stay open and the ground hirer not deem them playable then ESFA will need to be advised. Referees are the final arbitrators of pitch closures.

Tomorrow April 25th, 2015 is Anzac Day. No games are scheduled till after midday out of respect to our fallen diggers. We ask that all teams playing Saturday observe a minutes silence prior to kick off to honour our soldiers. Referees have been advised and will lead this mark of respect.

While on the subject of referees, please see the uncovered games list for the upcoming weekend Uncovered Games By Clubs Note it is the home team’s responsibility to referee should the game be uncovered. As games have been moved from grounds that have closed, your Club could still be the home team on another Club’s ground. We draw your attention to the Competition Rules, whereby it states that one person should be referee for the entire game. We also require team sheets be sent to ESFA upon completion of uncovered games. All rules apply to a non ESFA referee ie cautions and send offs. Send offs by Club Referees should be forwarded immediately to our Referees Coordinator

We would appreciated it greatly and ask that all Clubs forward to their coaches and managers our current 2015 RTO Guide. We have many Managers and Coaches out on the parks on the weekend, who are uncertain of their responsibilities. This plays continual havoc with games commencing on time. Games may be shortened should pre match activities not be complete ie. Team sheets, Player ID checks etc. Please ensure it is the correct team sheet. 95% of our Clubs appear to be using it however for a kind reminder, please use this link - 2015 ESFA Team Sheet

With no Small Sided Football this weekend and our U12-U15 Championship matches, also not being played, we still trust that those who do get to play football on the open parks this weekend, will not be added to the Suspended Players list, next weekend.

Remember our fallen soldiers this weekend and play in the spirit of the game. Lest we forget.
