Maroubra United Over 45 manager Paul Kavich counted his blessings upon his recent return from Nepal just 48 hours before the country was hit by its worst earthquake in 80 years.
A magnitude 7.8 earthquake, the worst in 80 years, hit the region on April 25th, 2015 and subsequent earthquake of May 12th.
Maroubra United Over 45s player, Con Horgan, whose niece was in Nepal during the earthquake (found safe and well), enlisted the assistance of Maroubra United and his manager Paul, to launch a fundraiser for the victims of Nepal on May 23rd, 2015 at Maroubra Sports Club
. Con believes the limited media coverage about the fact that there were 8000 killed in the initial earthquake, spurred the original idea.
The Club hopes to raise $10,000.00 which will be donated to World Vision.
There are live auction items including Manchester United jersey signed by Ryan Giggs and Sydney FC jersey signed by the 2015 Grand Final team.
There are also lucky door prizes, silent auction items, raffles, chocolate wheel and a live band The Lost Boys to keep us all on our toes.
The ESFA Football Family is encouraged to attend and if unable, to please consider donating online at Maroubra For Nepal
Your donation will help provide much needed relief to the people suffering the devastation in Nepal. It will help assist with immediate needs including:
- Shelter (tarpaulins, blankets, sleeping mats & mosquito nets)
- Hygiene kits (with items such as soap, toilet paper & toothbrush)
- Household emergency kits
- Access to child friendly spaces
The football community once again comes together to give to those in need.
