Senior Grand Final Weekend 1 - What's Happening at Hensley?

Published: 4/09/2015 2:52:00 PM

As we wind down Season 2015 we are all aware that true obsession doesn’t end when the season does. After all, there is only around 200 or so sleeps till season 2016 officially kicks off!

In our penultimate Club Weekend Update for season 2015, we hope that all our Junior Clubs enjoyed their Grand Final experience at Hensley and David Phillips over the weekend gone and look forward to our Senior Grand Finals commencement from 9:30am Saturday 5th September, 2015 to run over two weekends.

A reminder to our Clubs to ensure players, coaches and spectators comply with the following regulations at Hensley Athletic Field:

  • Do NOT bring in alcohol. BYO is strictly PROHIBITED (beer and wine may be purchased from the canteen)
  • Do NOT bring your four legged family members (no pooches allowed under Council regulations)

Now we have got the boldness out of the way, we also wish to remind our teams competing in the Grand Finals to have their team sheets completed upon arrival. ESFA staff will be checking player ID cards and team sheets prior to the commencement of each match and to enable the smooth running of operations on the two days, your cooperation will be met with friendliness and appreciation! We do not want anyone missing out due to administrative errors, so please be on the ball! Staff will be recognised by their cheerful demeanour and yellow ID cards. Look for the blue ESFA jackets if you require any assistance on the day.

To warm up for your Grand Final please use the areas to the south and north of the pitch but do not interfere with play. Home Team and Away Team dressing rooms are available, however please ensure all gear is removed at half time in preparation for the following game. It’s a shared experience for all.

One coach is able to be in the technical area with the manager to remain in the dug outs with the subs (or interchange players). Coloured bibs will be provided. Our four match officials appointed to each game, will ensure that all rules are adhered to with regard to this. This sees the uncovered games list as not being relevant this weekend! Though relevance of respect remains, along with acknowledgement of our Referees for their commitment to season 2015.  This of course, leads us once again our to our Suspended Players List for the weekend. A kind and gentle reminder that suspensions will hold over until 2016 (and follow you should you change clubs), so be sensible out there!

Remember after each match this weekend at Hensley there will be a presentation at the stage area near the exit gates. This will give teams an opportunity to enjoy the paparazzi entourage and revel in the experience of Grand Finals football. Every team is worthy of its moment in the sun (or moon should you be playing at night!). The trophies and medals have been handled with care, ready for their presentation.

To all Clubs who have teams representing in the Grand Finals this weekend, we wish you the best of luck. Saturday’s program finishes with the best of our AAM Championship Competition with Sunday night completing the weekend with our AAW Championship. For more on the teams involved, check our website stories AAM Championship First Grade Grand Final and AAW Championship Grand Final

We also wish our AAW4 teams who are playing in their Preliminary final, all the best on Sunday.

Enjoy this weekend. We look forward to some quality football! Happy Father’s Day to the dads among us and what better way to treat dad than a seat in the stands at Hensley watching with pride!

We leave you with the words of Queen Elizabeth II who in November, 2006 said to Premier League Chairman David Richards, “Football’s a difficult business and aren’t they prima donnas. But it’s a wonderful game.’’

On behalf of the team at ESFA,

See you on the park!
