Commencing in 1968, the Champion of Champions tournament is one of the most illustrious tournaments in the footballing calendar, with champions (after having met Association eligibility criteria) from each Association within NSW, matched against each other in a battle for football domination.

The past weekend saw the best of our ESFA competition teams begin their campaign with mixed results.

With Heffron U12s, Pagewood Botany U13s, Redfern Raiders U14s, Redfern Raiders U15s and Coogee United AAM Championship all having byes in the second round, the following results were incurred.

A special thank you to Pagewood Botany FC for allowing the use of Jellicoe Park to enable the majority of our ESFA Competition teams to play their Round 2 fixtures within the Eastern Suburbs.

We now move on to Round 3 (Quarter Finals) this weekend with the following matches being played throughout NSW. A special mention to Coogee United AAM Championship and Pagewood Botany U16s who are the only teams to travel outside the parameters of Sydney. We do hear though that Albury is beautiful this time of year and with forecast temperatures of a minimum of 5 degrees and a maximum of 20 degrees, it translates to perfect football weather. A pleasant and leisurely 5 ½ hour drive from Sydney, a just over 7 hour train trip or a just over 1 ½ hour plane trip, we believe football is based on passion and commitment!

We wish all our remaining teams in the Quarter Finals the very best of luck this weekend. Can Dunbar Rovers AAW Championship take out the League, the Grand Final, the State Cup and Champion of Champions? We look forward to some great stories coming out of this weekend and take pride in those representing the Association.

Remember, football players are not necessarily made by their technique, but by their passion.
