April 30th, 2016 will be the 11th Anniversary of the Dimos Shield played between Pagewood Botany FC and Waverley Old Boys FC AAM Championship (Premier League) teams.
Once again, the match will be played at Jellicoe Park, Pagewood at 3:00pm and will coincide and be a highlight of Pagewood Botany Football Club’s 40th Anniversary celebrations.
The Dimos Mastoris Shield is a day celebrated by Pagewood Botany FC and Waverley Old Boys FC to honour the memory of Dimos Mastoris. Dimos tragically passed away while playing the game of football he loved for Pagewood Botany FC, against Waverley Old Boys FC in 2005. Dimos was well known to Waverley Old Boys Football Club through his alumni of Waverley College.
The two Clubs now share a bond which has been cemented over many years and is a mark of respect by both Clubs for their love of a great footballer and a man known to many throughout the footballing community. Dimos was a husband and father of two daughters and at a young age of 35 years was taken from his own family and football family too soon.
Results of the Shield over the past years, have been as follows:
2005 - 0-0 draw
2006 - 4-1 win to Pagewood Botany FC
2007 - 4-0 win to Waverley Old Boys FC
2008 - 6-0 win to Pagewood Botany FC
2009 - 3-0 win to Pagewood Botany FC
2010 - 1-0 win to Waverley Old Boys FC
2011 - 1-0 win to Waverley Old Boys FC

2013 - 3-1 win to Pagewood Botany FC
2014 - 2-2 draw
2015 – 1-0 win to Waverley Old Boys FC
We wish both Pagewood Botany FC and Waverley Old Boys FC all the best on the day in respect of Dimos and the game of football on the 11th Anniversary of the Dimos Shield at Jellicoe Park.
