It Was Cold - Our Youngest Didn't Even Notice!

Published: 29/07/2016 1:27:00 PM

Sunday July 24th, 2016 certainly had a chill in the air for those making their way to Christison Park for the Under 6s and Under 7s Gala Day.

With huge thanks to Maccabi’s hard work prior to the event and during the event, the chill was soon forgotten and our youngest ESFA players enjoyed the third and final ESFA Gala Day for 2016.

We would also wish to acknowledge with gratitude the assistance provided by Easts FC, Mascot Kings FC and Queens Park FC for providing additional goals on the day. A great show of Club spirit.

ESFA express our appreciation of the support provided by our Clubs, parents and players themselves to have made the ESFA Gala Days the success they have been.

We asked Barry Grossman from Maccabi to give us a report on the day.

“It was a sunny, yet exceptionally chilly Sunday morning, when over 400 U6 and U7 kids came to Christison Park on 24th July for the annual Maccabi Hakoah Junior Football Club ESFA gala day.

To be brutally honest, the kids didn't seem to notice the frightfully cold weather.  Their parents had dressed them warmly - some with hoodies, some with trackies, some with both and some with neither.  Either way, they ignored the temperature and were all focused on the games at hand.

With 28 pitches set up, there was so much action and excitement.  Parents watched on as the next Ronaldo or Messi defended, passed and had shots at goal.

With so many kids playing football, the rain holding off and the BBQ churning out delicious hot dogs, Maccabi can be proud of putting on yet another successful gala day.’’

ESFA looks forward to further Gala Days in 2017 where we can once enjoy the excitement of the passionate football players from our Under 6s and Under 7s.
