AAM Championship Grand Final 2016

Season 2016 has been an interesting one for our AAM Championship League. Surprise losses. Surprise victories and all else in between.

Our two grand finalists have been decided and will meet on the albeit artificial turf of the Wembley of the East, Hensley Athletic Field on Saturday 3rd September, 2016 for a 7:00pm kick off.

Just who is playing at what are their stats? It’s all very interesting on paper!

Dunbar Rovers FC

Won the League.

Coached by Lee Burney.

Played 9 consecutive games in the first round of the League without a loss.

On both regular season encounters, triumphed over Glebe Wanderers FC.

Regular season saw 16 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss.

Major semi-final was not to be so easy, with Glebe coming out victors and straight into the grand final with a week’s rest.

Preliminary final won over Coogee United FC.

Glebe Wanderers FC

Second in the League.

Coached by Pete O’Doherty

13 wins in regular season, 1 draw, 4 losses.

Straight through to the Grand Final after defeating Coogee United FC in major semi final.

One week’s rest.

Ironically, the last time both Clubs were in the AAM Championship Grand Final was back in 2013 playing each other. Glebe Wanderers being triumphant on the night. Is it history repeating, or time to write another chapter? Think both Clubs have their own views.

Whatever you make of the statistics, it promises to be a great match up and some brilliant football.

Where will you be Saturday night? Hensley Athletic Field, 7:00pm kickoff.

Best of luck to both Clubs.
