2019 ESFA Women’s Cup Final

If it’s Wednesday in August, then there’s surely another trophy to play for?

The 2019 ESFA Women’s Cup between Women’s football powerhouse Clubs Dunbar Rovers and Coogee United will be played at Hensley Athletic Field tonight Wednesday 21st August 2019.

Dunbar Rovers Women have held the Cup the previous two seasons having defeated Maroubra United in 2018 and Mascot Kings in 2017. Dunbar are looking for an historic third successive win. However, Coogee United are hoping to upset this search, having not won the Cup since 2016 when they last appeared in the final, defeating opponents, Dunbar Rovers!

With not only football on the line, we have the pride of both clubs due to the close contests of football between them, during the 2019 winterseason.

With Women’s football causing such momentum, especially with the current bid for the FIFA 2023 World Cup to be played in Australia, we hope to see a large crowd down at Hensley to cheer on the teams and marvel at the skill and tenacity of women’s football in ESFA.

Since the Women’s Cup commenced in 2014, the following clubs have raised the trophy:

2014:    Maccabi Hakoah AAW2

2015:    Not played

2016:    Coogee United AAW2

2017:     Dunbar Rovers AAW2

2018:    Dunbar Rovers AAW2

Head on down tonight, with gates opening at 6:00pm when the Dunbar club look for their first Knockout Competition trophy for 2019 and Coogee seek their second!

Canteen will be open for food and refreshments and please remember this is a Licenced premises and alcohol is not to be brought in.
