Weather extremes did not in any way dampen our Junior Grand Finals for 2019.

Saturday saw the famous winds of Heffron Park blow coldly over the fields, though the rain finally held off and football was played.

Sunday, sunscreen applied, and the winds of Heffron Park took a while to find their energy while the warmth of the day settled our teams and spectators in.

We witnessed some incredible football from our youngsters. Special shout out to Easts and Queens Park U12 being the only fixture to go to penalty shootout, proving the skill of the competition was too close to call and we cannot not mention the save by Easts keeper!

Our U13 to U15 girls and boys non-Championship competitions, were of equal excitement. Speed, skill and determination for all to see. No one did not give it their all. Some games literally had spectators on the edge of their seats. That’s what Grand Finals are all about.

Our G13 saw another brilliant save by the Pagewood keeper taking the sting out of being runners up to the 2019 Premiers Queens Park.

Our G17 Competition Grand Final displaying the brilliant skill of this age group. A definite contender for match of the Grand Final weekend. A triple save by the Queens Park keeper was unbelievable and two of Maroubra’s goals, had to be seen to be believed.

U18 Boys were full of energy for 9:00am in the morning and pumped up to start the Sunday. There’s something to be said for anthem playing and enjoying the moment!

With both days proving an enjoyable display of football to all, we would like to acknowledge our Premiers and Champions for 2019 in our Junior Competition.

We would also wish to acknowledge our match officials. It can sometimes be a tough gig when everyone is watching, and every angle writes a different story! We thank them for their professionalism and courage to make a difference to our game.

We had so many proud grandparents approach us throughout the weekend. Therefore, we particularly thank all the parents, grandparents, siblings and friends who display the spirit of the game and lead by example of behaviour, whilst encouraging, cheering and celebrating whether a win or a loss. There is no place in Junior sport for anything else.

We officially congratulate the 2019 Premiers, Champions and Runners Up!
