Club Spotlight – South East Eagles

Each week we will be celebrating our amazing clubs and learning more about their history, accomplishments and about the special people that make the club what it is today.

Here is what Club President, Paul Peters had to say:

South East Eagles FC was founded in 1976 operating under the name St Spyridon Soccer Club representing the Greek Community of South East Sydney. In the late 70’s the club spent time establishing itself within the then Southern Eastern Association. It was in the 1980’s where the club saw its most successful period winning multiple Championships resulting in high participation levels in the Champions of Champions competitions. Through the 90’s and early 2000’s, as the area diversified, so did the club’s identity. We would see name changes from Saints FC to Olympic Eagles during a brief partnership with Sydney Olympic, to our current identity South East Eagles FC.

With continuous support from club founders, Father Steven Scoutas and Mr Con Pavlou, our club has created an inclusive and family environment whilst always recognising its history. With that sound foundation, our vision is to continue the growth of community football primarily focusing on Mini Roo, Junior and Women’s football whilst maintaining the strong presence of its current playing group to further build on recent successes in ESFA competitions.

We stand by our motto of being the “Family Club”, bringing those values instilled into our club DNA and creating a family environment for all its members!
