Men’s Premier League Grand Finals – The Time Has Come!

After a season that was once not going to get kicked off, our Men’s Premier League Competition managed to play 22 rounds in 17 weeks. Covid-19 restrictions applied and everyone adjusted.

This feat was made more complex through tragedy when one of our own, Coogee United’s Deklan Gilmartin, was tragically taken from the football family too soon on 26th July, only a few weeks into our season.

Our Men’s Premier League Clubs were truly powerful in their support of Coogee United at that time and there were many individual and Club tributes to Deklan. This was an example of the strength and comradery of our top Men’s football division, which has been seen week in and week out on the parks in the Eastern Suburbs.

We had weekends washed out, grounds pushed to their limits, grounds becoming unavailable and yet rare complaints from a Competition that understood the importance of football in a year that had provided so much grief and unforeseen circumstances.

When ESFA announced the 1 v 2 Grand Final, football heated up and both our First Grade and Reserve Grade resulted in two Clubs on the same points. The Goal Difference rule was applied and our Premiers were decided.

Congratulations to Glebe Wanderers in First Grade and Phoenix in Reserve Grade for their 2020 crowns!

Glebe Wanderers will be represented in both grades. Glebe Wanderers First Grade having missed out to Coogee United the last 2 Grand Finals with Coogee United attempting to be crowned Champions for the fourth year in a row. Glebe Wanderers would like to break the pattern!

This is the third consecutive year for Phoenix in the Reserve Grade Grand Final and are looking for a back to back Champions Trophy. Glebe Wanderers have not been in the Grand Final in Reserve Grade since 2017 and are looking to spoil the Phoenix party!

Our Grand Finals have been scheduled for several weeks and we can proudly announce the Clubs involved.
