The season that was 2020 for Men’s Premier League

Saturday 7th November 2020 and our ultimate Grand Finals were played at Heffron Synthetic for Men’s Premier League Reserve and First Grades.

This season the Clubs agreed to attempt the 22-round season! The last weekend of regular season saw the rain, hail and lightning ensure not all matches were played. Mother nature feeling the same way we did about the end of football season. With the Grand Final and Premiership not being affected by a reschedule of weather impacted matches, ESFA advised all Clubs due to the lack of fields available to host the 8 games required, that unfortunately, for some, the season finished with 19 games. Still, an outstanding achievement for all involved.

All Clubs should be proud of their season. The unwavering fact that the season looked unlikely to even commence due to Covid-19 restrictions, proves the mammoth effort required to complete a season in the time provided. With weather constraints, ground constraints and tragedies so unforeseen, 2020 proved to be testing as well as needed with both mental and physical health.

The Grand Finals were a way to celebrate football. With large and vocal crowds at both fixtures, it was an excellent way to farewell season 2020.

We congratulate Glebe Wanderers for their incredible success by being crowned Champions in both the Reserve Grade and First Grade. Glebe Wanderers also became Premiers by winning the First Grade League by a goal difference of 1 over Coogee United.

Phoenix were crowned Premiers in Reserve Grade once again in a League decided by goal difference.

We now look forward to some normality returning in season 2021 for all!
