Congratulations to Sophia Brokenshire on your selection for the U14 Football NSW National Youth Championship Squad.
Sophia played with ESFA Mixed SAP in 2019 and was a fantastic asset to her squad. We’re not surprised she’s been recognised to represent NSW.
The competition returns in 2022 having been sidelined due to the COVID pandemic for the last two years and will take place over ten days in September for under-14s and 16s girls (19 to 23 September) and under-14s and 15s boys (26 to 30 September).
Many current Socceroos and Matildas participated in the National Youth Championships on their journey to junior and senior national team selection, demonstrating the calibre of talent that will be showcasing their wares in Coffs Harbour later this year.
“We are really looking forward to this year’s National Youth Championships having not participated for the last two years due to the COVID pandemic,” said Football NSW Technical Director Warren Grieve.
“Our player development strategy is to increase opportunities for players to be identified via our Talent Support Program (TSP), Elite matches and weekly scouting process.
“It will be a great opportunity for these selected players to test themselves individually and collectively against other talented players from around the country.
“These tournaments provide great learning moments for both players and coaches.
“It was incredibly difficult to narrow down the squads for this year’s tournament.
“It’s hoped that the selected players will make the most of the week showcasing their individual qualities within the team environment.”
Congratulations Sophia!
