Saturday 12th April, 2025 is a very special day for both Pagewood Botany FC and Waverley Old Boys FC.
Mark Ambour, President Waverley Old Boys provides an invitation to the entire football community.
“We warmly invite you all to a very special day on 12th April, 2025 at Jellicoe Park.
This date marks the 20th Anniversary of the Dimos Shield, played between Pagewood Botany FC and Waverley Old Boys Football Club.
This annual event is held in honour of Dimos Mastoris (affectionately known as Dimi), who tragically passed away while playing for Pagewood Botany FC. At the time, Dimi was not only a passionate player but also the Treasurer and a Life Member of the Pagewood club. He was just 35 years old—a beloved husband and father of two young daughters.
Dimi’s final game was, poignantly, against Waverley Old Boys—the school he attended, playing alongside and against many lifelong friends. This shared history has since created a lasting bond between the two clubs.
For the past 20 years, this day has brought us together to celebrate Dimi’s life, his love for the game, and the enduring friendships forged through football.
We would love for you to join us in commemorating this special milestone.
Kick-off for the charity match is at 1:00 PM, and will feature players who were part of the original Dimi Day match two decades ago—making this a truly memorable event.
Activities for the Day include:
Kids passpots where they need to attend 5 stations to learn about heart health
Fitness and nutrition booths, NSW ambulance, Photo Booth, CPR Station and Good Sam sign ups.
Many prizes to give away!
On behalf of the Pagewood and Waverley Committees’ we sincerely hope to see a strong turnout from our football family. Let’s come together to honour a great man and the spirit of the game he loved”
From our ESFA MiniRoos through to our seniors, for those lucky enough to be playing a Jellicoe, we hope you join in where you can.
ESFA wish everyone a successful day and keep Dimi, his family and all concerned in our thoughts.
